Bible verse of the week:

Hello and welcome back to the Bible verse corner!
Come on, step inside, take a seat, get cozy and let’s talk.
Today’s Bible verse can be found in the New Testament: Philippians 4:8. I come back to this verse frequently because let’s face it, with so much going on around us, there’s a fight to remind ourselves what we should be thinking about.
Without no further ado, let’s put the passage into context. After Paul greets the brothers and sisters and makes a request, he says to rejoice in the Lord. All men must see our gentleness because the Lord is near. We must not be anxious about anything but pray; ask and thank God. Then His peace will keep our hearts in Christ. Finally, whatever is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report; if there be any virtue, and praise, think on these things.
So we can see the importance of rejoicing and praying. God wants us to ask of Him, but he also wants us to be thankful. May we do these things so we can receive His peace. And in addition, think on things that will stop us from slipping into negative thought patterns, that cause worry, anxiety, and anything else that God wants to keep us from.
So then, what’s the takeaway? We are to rejoice in the Lord, ask him for what we need, and be thankful. When we do this, God’s peace will keep our hearts. And when it does, we must continue in His peace by keeping our thoughts on the right things.

I used to have this verse on a home-made cardboard sign that I set on top of our TV. 😉 After some frustrating searches for a decent movie to watch, I may make another one.
Sounds like a wonderful plan. I might have to do the same. Thanks for your comment. 😊
